Most painters still quote jobs from memory at the end of the day. Calcuu wanted to change that with a mobile app that makes accurate calculations on location, so they don't have to quote in the evening. Daasign revamped the full app.

Overview
We designed all new app screens for Calcuu from the first flow to a prototype ready for development. The result launched in the App Store and put an accurate quoting tool in the hands of professional painters.
Calcuu is a calculation tool built specifically for painters working independently. The idea was straightforward: instead of relying on rough estimates made hours after leaving a job site, painters get an app they can use while they're still on location. Accurate measurements, fast quotes, no evening admin. Daasign designed every screen to make that workflow as quick as possible.

The Challenge
Painters aren't sitting behind a desk. They're on ladders, in hallways, in rooms they need to measure and quote before they leave. Any tool designed for them has to work in that context — fast, on a phone screen, without requiring much input to get to a useful result.
The existing approach was pen, paper and rough estimates, often turned into quotes hours later from memory. That's where errors come from, and where time gets lost. The app needed to feel like the fastest possible path from measurement to quote, for someone who has never opened a design tool in their life.

The Solution
We designed all new screens for the app with one principle running through every decision: reduce the steps between arriving on site and sending a quote.

The full quoting flow was built for use on location, with inputs that match how painters actually measure a space and think about a job. Every screen was designed to need as little typing as possible. The visual design is clean and readable in the kinds of lighting conditions a working painter actually deals with. Within four weeks, we delivered a complete prototype that Calcuu's development partner could build directly from. The app launched in the App Store with the designs implemented as delivered.

Calcuu raised funding and launched in the App Store within the sprint timeframe. The first users downloaded the tool, provided feedback and started quoting on location, exactly as designed.
