SEO is not dead in 2026, but it looks pretty different from what most people picture. AI, shifting search behavior, and the rise of answer engines have changed the game. The underlying goal, helping search engines surface relevant content for real queries, is still the same. How you get there is not.
Traditional keyword optimization now works alongside entity-based SEO, semantic search, and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Google cares less about exact keyword matches and more about what a user actually wants. AI Overviews now sit at the top of many results pages, which means your content needs to be structured well enough to show up inside an AI-generated summary, not just rank below one.
For Webflow SEO specifically, this matters a lot. Filling in meta descriptions is table stakes. What actually moves the needle now is well-structured content, FAQ schema, speakable schema for voice search, and topic clusters that prove you know your subject. Webflow handles this reasonably well. Its CMS and custom code options give you enough control to implement the technical pieces without fighting the platform.
Voice search is also worth taking seriously. Conversational queries are growing as AI assistants get more capable, and content written in stiff, keyword-stuffed prose does not answer them well. Natural language that directly addresses a specific question does. That is why featured snippet optimization has become a real priority rather than an afterthought.
The fundamentals have not gone anywhere either. Core Web Vitals, mobile-first indexing, HTTPS, and link building still carry real weight. Webflow's clean code output gives sites a decent head start on the technical side, which is genuinely useful.
